Yesterday, September 4, was the Hawai'i Food and Wine Festival at The Modern. I had a scheduled double bussing and made only $16 in the five hour morning shift that I worked. Luckily we had a lot to do to set up for the event for the evening. It was quite a sight to see the two smallest girls, both five feet tall, carrying a heavy table that's meant to seat four. Girl power all the way though, cause we moved those chairs and tables like bosses! We closed early and I was able to have a short break before I needed to return to work. Went with Rowena to Island Vintage Coffee for the first time and she introduced me to the delicious Hawaiian Honey Latte! It was so refreshing with soy of course. It comes with three and a half shots of espresso, and adding an extra shot gives you the extra caffeine boost and it's just the right amount of sweetness. Headed back to work and it was pure chaos. Chefs were using the restaurant/kitchen to cook and be judged by Morimoto and whoever else was on the panel. I had the opportunity to take photos for a couple hours when we opened so I can work on some promo stuff and what not. It was pretty awesome to say the least, and I would love to be an event photographer. I got to talk to a couple people with media passes and they were so nice. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to do something like this in the future, cause it really was a lot of fun!
